Medical expenses for Jasmine Bynes

This is a story about Jasmine Jones-Bynes. Jasmine is a young aspiring urban planner. She attended Rutgers University. Jasmine graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Urban Planning and Design. Jasmine was accepted into Georgia Institute of Technology and would like to pursue her masters degree in city and regional planning. Her dream is to work in Urban Planning on parks and bicycle/pedestrian design projects. Jasmine's philosophy is that the built environment contributes positively to health outcomes.

On May 6, 2018, two days prior to graduation, Jasmine's dreams were interrupted by a near fatal car accident. She had very serious injuries going into surgery with a collapsed lung, punctured kidney and liver, broken shoulder blades, several broken ribs and two broken bones in her spinal vertebrate. Jasmine spent two weeks in intensive care unit on a ventilator – which controlled her breathing and a feeding tube. She spent the next eight weeks in rehab, where she regained the ability to move her arms and legs.  While in the hospital she underwent spinal vertebrate surgery in which the doctors inserted a several pins, rods and screws to hold the broken bones in place as they heal. Jasmine has been visiting the back doctor to obtain Xrays and is healing well. However, the pins, rod and screws in her back must be removed in a separate surgery this November. Following the second spinal vertebrate operation Jasmine will need physical therapy to learn how to bend, lean, twist, and complete other motions that involve her back and core muscle area. During the time from May to November, she has been totally restricted from bending, leaning or twisting. Although on the exterior she may appear to be recovered, she has many months of healing to go. Jasmine will not let this accident get in the way of her dreams. She is determined to attend graduate school next year despite her mounting personal and medical bills and physical injuries.

The images and photos below are of Jasmine's condition and recovery. The image above is of the car involved in the accident. A photo of Jasmine's stomach is the scar that resulting from an exploratory surgery that occurred in the emergency room. The doctors went into Jasmine's stomach to stop bleeding of her liver and kidney. Jasmine wore a back brace (pictured below) for eight weeks supporting her lower spinal vertebrate. The video is of Jasmine's tenth day in the hospital, it was the first time she worked with the physical therapist to get out of the bed and walk. In it she wanted desperately to try the mini stairs and was able to do so, with pain. The last photo is of Jasmine in the ICU for two weeks she was on a ventilator (to force her oxygen to her lungs) and a feeding tube (to send food directly to her stomach).

We have set up this account to raise funds to help Jasmine cover medical costs. As it stands health and auto insurance has not been significant enough to cover the mounting surgical, hospital, rehabilitation, and other doctor’s bills, leaving her with thousands of dollars in debt. Your support of this fund will begin to help offset some of the cost. Please consider making a donation, as every amount will help her cover medical bills.

Please extend an invitation to two of your friends/family to donate and if unable to, please ask two persons to share this link.
