Medical Costs for Elaina Burnett

Elaina Burnett is a true Austinite, born and raised. Fifty years young, she is the proud mother of three, as well as a proud grandmother of three.  She is a loving wife and a fierce friend.  She is the protective Mama Bear to the local Pokémon Go community.  Until a back injury earlier this year sidelined her, she was a regular Spartan Race competitor and was such a savage racer, her fellow racers dubbed her "The Bad A** Mexican".

 

On November 27, 2017 Elaina was diagnosed with Stage Three Invasive Lobular Carcinoma of the Breast.  Laboratory results also revealed she was positive for all three of the ER, PR, and HER2 biomarkers.  This means her form of Breast Cancer is extremely aggressive and urgent.  As of December 16, 2017, the initial tumor has grown by 0.9cm.  In addition to the original tumor, new tumors have developed in both breasts.

 

With the discovery of these new tumors and the rapid rate of growth, Elaina will undergo a double mastectomy on January 17.  The surgery will be three days before her birthday.  Never losing her sense of humor, she pointed out 'Apparently three is my number'.  Three children, three grandchildren, Stage Three Breast Cancer, triple positive biomarkers, and the surgery date three days before her birthday.  However, this Bad A** Mexican Mama Bear is ready to strap on her a** kicking boots and kick cancer to the curb.

 

Due to the sudden onset of the cancer and its rapid progression, Elaina and her family are reaching out to their friends and the community for support.  Time is of the essence and the cost of the surgery, as well as the ensuing chemotherapy, will be staggering.  For those who will kindly be able to donate, this gofundme page has been set up.
