Medical Bills for House Fire Cats

Donation protected
UPDATE: WOOOHOO!! WE DID IT!!!!!
We raised $1,414 in 22 hours, from 47 people, through 172 Facebook shares. 100% of the goal ($1,284) went towards paying the cat’s medical bills (Carolina Vet & Carolina Vet Specialist). And as promised, the additional money raised over goal ($130) will be going towards a local rescue. I’ve contacted the Humane Society of Concord/Greater Cabarrus County and the $130 will be going towards items off their wish list. (seen here: http://www.cabarrushumanesociety.org/wish-list) The additional money raised will go a long way to further help animals in need.

Again, I can’t thank you enough!

Casey :)

Friends & family,
The house outside my office window caught fire today. I saw a dog in the fenced in back yard, so I ran over to let him out. After firefighters arrived they found a cat inside suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation and since I was one of the first people at the scene, I rushed her to the vet hospital.

After I left, the firefighters found two more cats in worse condition.

THANK GOD all three cats are going to live and the dog is safe, back with his owner.

I thought that the owner had been through enough today and I couldn't bring myself to add onto his day by telling him he owed over a thousand dollars in initial vet bills. All bills were paid in full, and I hope this will be a nice relief when he picks up his pets this evening.

The total medical costs for initial treatment of all three animals is $1,284 ($416 for one cat, $442 for the second and $426 for the third). Any money raised in excess of $1,284 will go to a local Huntersville, NC animal rescue.

***UPDATE: The cats have all been moved to the same emergency hospital, and that clinic is now trying to raise an additional $3K to support their post care for the next few weeks. The three cats are currently in critical condition due to smoke inhalation, with one doing slightly better than the others.

Thank you so, so much in advance,

Casey

P.S. A big THANK YOU to Carolinas Veterinary Clinic for being the first donor!
