Medical Bills & New Walker

Hey there, my name is Lu (Luella, Lulu, Ella) Vega. I'm a Mother to 4 children and Nonna to 4 grandchildren! I forget that I have ALS, Lupus, & PBA - uncontrollable laughing & crying. I'm a God fearing Daughter, Mother, Ex-Wife, Sister, Sister'in'Law, Friend, (Adopted: Daughter, Mother, Sister) Church Member, Retired Insurance Agent - 25 yrs, Disciple of Jesus Christ. 

How could one ever forget that they have a terminal disease!!??? I do until I do something physical and then remember, I think it's because I choose JOY, PEACE & LOVE only GOD, the One True God, can give you!! Also, I have "sometimeres"
Sometimes I remember and sometimes I don't. Hahaha

God blew my world up Dec 2017. After I asked, "Am I in your will?" Took all year of 2018 to adjust to my new life without Joe, my fur-kids Bronson & Layla. Still adjusting, but I'm not crying every day, so that's progress! Through this heart wrenching ordeal, I've grown so much closer to God. My faith stronger than it has ever been! Such sweet sweet fellowship with God my Father my Saviour my Comforter! "Bless the Lord, O my soul and all that is within me, bless his holy name!"

I never updated my address when I moved. (Was kicked out of my forever home. Yes, it still stings.) Eighteen years, it's like being punched in the gut and you can't catch your breath.  When I finally did changed my address, 12/2018, I moved out of the coverage area and my health insurance cancelled on 12/31/18. I have applied for coverage but it will not be effective until 2/1/2019. The craziness of this situation, I've applied for the exact same coverage that I had cancel, Humana!!?? 

I have cancelled my other Dr appts for January, but had 3 appts and my monthly infusion that will have to be paid when insurance denies my visits. I forgot about my Medicare coverage! I'm only responsible for 20%. 

$90 -- Pain Management Dr
1/3/19 $115 cash patient. Paid $25 copay. I'd pay more if ran through Medicare, because they discount cash patients so generously.

$139.80 -- Primary Dr
1/2/19 $233 billed insurance, my portion $46.60 Additional appts, due to broken nose and split lip 1/23/19 & 1/31/19.

$0 -- Palliative Care Evaluation - In home evaluation by registered nurse to see what services I qualify for. Easy transition to Hospice Care, when needed. They have waived that fee, was $400.

$2,200 -- Radicava Infusion for ALS. This is a miracle in itself!! It's the first drug to be approved for ALS,  Lou Gehrig's diseaseLou Gehrig's diseaseThe FDA fast tracked it and approved it in 1 year! First drug approved in 20 years.   My Dr said I would not be approved but he would submit my case. That was November 2017 (1 month to detonation! Remember, God blew up my world 12/2017.) I started receiving my infusions March 2018...that's just 3 months for my approval!! Now I started praying to God Fall of 2016, "If this new medication will benefit me, please let me be approved." One year prior to the FDA approval. My God is so so good to me!! "Bless the Lord, O my soul and all that is within me, bless his holy name!"


God is so so good to me, all my medications for January were processed before I found out my insurance was cancelled! 

In addition to my medical bills, I am in need of a new walker. God has led me to a walker that converts to a transport wheelchair. It is truly amazing! And when I get tired, if I'm not alone, someone will push me. It's made of aluminum which makes it much lighter than my current walker. I'm still able to drive, but I cannot get my 4 wheel walker into the car because it's too heavy. The cost of the walker will be a total of $369.40 + tax ($25.12.) $394.52
