“This is crazy!”
That’s all I could say after my regular six-month blood check up on Thursday, February 26.  I had breast cancer 2 1/2 years ago so I go every six months for a check up. My oncologist always says your blood work looks great, I’ll see you in six months! But this day would be different. His words to me were, “Something is not right. There must be a problem with the blood draw. We need to do it again.” What he saw in the second blood work was correct, no mistake.   “You have leukemia,” he said. After a few moments of silence all I could say is, “This is crazy”
By Tuesday, March fifth I was sitting in Dr. Andreeff office, one of the leading specialists and reachers for Leukemia at MD Anderson.  He diagnosed me with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, an aggressive
cancer of the blood and bone marrow.
He explained that my treatment would involve 18 cycles, each cycle would be 28 days long with blood draws, infusions, shots, pills, and transfusion. (blood, platelets, and potassium as needed)
It took us a very short time to realize we would be a year and a half away from our homes. Our words again, “This is crazy!”
The goal is to lower my “blasts”

( the bad cancer cells) to 5% or lower. That would put me in remission and at that time a bone marrow transplant would be possible.
That would be the cure for AML. I entered the hospital with a count of 63 blasts and after the first cycle they were at 10. I am now on my second cycle.
We have not been home since we left on March 5th. We left and didn’t realize this journey would be such a long one away from our homes, family, friends, and daily activity we love so much.
My sweet, amazing sister has been with me from the very beginning. This journey, as long as it will be, is an overwhelming and very difficult one but I am moving through it with my Mighty God.  He is so good and so present each and every day.

In this journey for a cure I I have:
Hospital cost
Dr.costs
Pharmacy Cost
Living expenses in Houston
Maintaining my home in Kerrville and all households bills with that
Then the cure... bone marrow transplant

This is all so overwhelming! But I have my Lord and Savior to see me through and so many praying for me.
I pray for you all every day!!
God’s love and Blessings,

Love from me,
