TripWireProject/Final Art Materials
Donation protected
Dear Artists Friends, Colleagues and Family,
Your donation will be used to offset the cost of materials for a final panel for the Trip Wire Project where I will knit a stitch from military trip wire for every wounded civilian in Afghanistan since 2001 and every wounded civilian since 2003 in Iraq through the rise of ISIS in 2015. The figures for the wounded vary from different organizations, but are in the 6 figures.
The three completed panels so far represent deceased and wounded U.S. soldiers and deceased civilians in both Iraq and Afghanistan
The cost of the trip wire since 2013 has moved steadily up from .99 & 1.99/roll to 3.99 to 9.99 per roll when it is available. After creating the 3 original knitted panels of the piece, I ran out of the necessary yellow wire. I would like to be consistent and finish the 4th panel as originally conceived.
If you can donate anything, it would offset some of these costs. Although I initially received a very modest but welcome grant from the Puffin Foundation for this project, their support went to the previous materials and photo and video documentation of the project.
My hope is to again exhibit the final piece in its entirety early next year, and also move it to various public locations and photograph it in situe as part of the art project.
I am grateful for any contributions and thank you for your consideration.
Michèle Colburn
