MCCM Future Leaders Poetry Contest

Tax deductible
MCCM Future Leaders Teen Poetry Contest

Overview: MCCM will host a poetry contest for students in San Diego’s Momentum / Juvenile Court and Community Schools (JCCS).  Three contest judges of diversity will be chosen from the San Diego Poetry Community to determine the students whose poetry deserves merit.

Student submissions will be assigned a number by the poetry contest editor before being sent to the judges for purposes of student anonymity.

Managing Poetry Editor: Jim Moreno

Dates:

• All poems for consideration must be submitted by midnight, Saturday June 1, 2019.
• Winners will be notified and prizes sent by Monday June 17, 2019.

Eligible entrants: Currently enrolled students from any San Diego JCCS/Momentum school.

Awards:  Winning students will be sent prepaid VISA cards in the following denominations: $150 First Place, $75 Second Place, $50 Third Place, and four $25 Honorable Mentions.  All money collected (minus any bank and transaction fees) will be used as award money for students.  Any money collected in excess of prize money will be rolled over to the next contest.

Prize money will be solicited from the public through MCCM’s GoFundMe page.  No State, SDCOE, or JCCS funds will be used for prize money.

Recognition: The top poem from each school will be published in the MCCM quarterly newsletter and posted on the MCCM website .
