Marc and Cheri - YWAM DTS

Marc and I are very excited to be embarking on a new adventure with God! We have been accepted to do a Discipleship Training School (DTS) with YWAM (Youth With A Mission) in Townsville, Australia.  For two months we will be in Townsville, taking courses.  The mornings consist of courses focused on our relationship with God.  In the afternoons we will each be assigned a service position, where we will be helping within the university.  Evenings will be filled with our elective courses - which we both chose to be medical.  We are very excited to learn how to do medical outreach in remote parts of the world.  We will be trained in treating malaria, dysentery and teaching community health. 

After these two months, we will be heading to Papua New Guinea for 3 1/2 months to put into practice what we have learned! Papua New Guinea has many remote islands. We will be traveling on a YWAM ship (like Mercy ships) to spread the Gospel and show God's love through medical aid. 

We are so excited for this opportunity, both to grow as a couple and to share the good news of Jesus!  It is going to be a challenging adventure both physically and spiritually.  We ask that you would pray for us.  We need God to strengthen, protect, guide and bless us that we would be able to be a blessing to others. Please also pray that He would supply all our needs.  Our course starts on October 21st, 2018!  We have a long way to go to have enough funds!  God has continually encouraged us to keep going forward and to trust Him.   If He puts it on your heart, please help us to get there. We would be very grateful and ask that God would richly bless each giver and that it would bear fruit for eternity.


Our Budget for this trip:

As of Friday September 14, 2018 CAD/AUD was 1.07 AUD = 1 CAD  With the banks exchange fee it will be about even with the CAD.  For the sake of simplification, we are listing everything in CAD funds.  We have paid for some things ourselves and have planned and prepared for as much of this trip as we can, but there are many things we still need help with!


Notarization of ID and Blue Card application - $22.50 /person = $45 (PAID)

Doctors Assessment of Health - $40/person  = $80 (PAID)

Course enrollment fee - $200/person = $400 (PAID)

Australian Health Insurance - $279/person = $ 558 (PAID)

Additional Living Expenses (e.g.: special dietary needs, transportation) $100/week/person -$4400 - (PAID)

Immunizations - $300/person  = $600 (PAID) 

Student Visa - $550/person = $1100 - (PAID)

DTS Tuition  Fees - $2306/person = $4,612 (PAID)

Room and Board - $1684/person = $3,368 (raised in full, half paid)

Outreach to Papua New Guinea - $2800/ person = $5,600 (only 1, 800 left!!!) 

Flight from Vancouver to Townsville - $1600/person round trip = $3,200 (PAID)

Additional unforeseen expenses over 5 1/2 months of living abroad - $1,760/person = $3,520

 

Total Trip for 2 person = $27,483


So far $5,483 has been paid for, leaving a grand total of $22,000
