MAYA AND HER LOVER (MAHL) is a story about a woman on the verge of turning 40 who is grappling with a sense of self-worth and a mundane existence. Determined to make a change she begins to explore her sexuality by having a steamy but tumultuous affair with a much younger man. The relationship gets complicated when it becomes more maternal than sexual.
I like to think of this as a coming of age story for both Maya and her love interest. Although Maya is in her 30's she's still trying to figure life out. The relationship helps Maya to move outside of her comfort zone and discover what it means to be happy with yourself. Set in Brooklyn, New York the story will be told in a naturalistic way that is funny, sexy and totally relatable.
We are raising production funds to shoot MAHL as a micro-budget feature in July 2018. The money will be used to cover pay for the actors, secure locations, pay for insurance and feed the crew.

About the Director: Nicole began her directing career with the short film The Stop and followed that with the short Minor Blues. In addition to directing she has worked as an independent producer of 5 feature films and as a production coordinator on studio productions. With your support, Maya and Her Lover with be her chance to take her career to the next level.
