Max Metzger & The Ornery Kidney

About a year ago, Maximus was diagnosed with kidney failure, and was immediately put on dialysis. He was officially put on the donor list on December 12, 2014. Around the middle of January 2015 they got the call. They had a matching donor kidney for Max. His parents, Melissa and Carl Metzger, along with the rest of the family, were so happy that Max could finally get back to being a kid.
At first, everything was going well. His body wasn't rejecting the new kidney, and Max was feeling great.
February 14th, he was rushed to the ER with leg pain and was getting sick to his stomach. The doctors said he had an aneurysm in one of the arteries coming off the kidney. They took him to surgery, and discovered that his arteries had actually all blown. During a 5 hour surgery, they were able to repair the damage. Or so they thought.
As Max was just getting back to school, they discovered he had another aneurysm. Unfortunately, the doctors were not able to repair the damage, and Max lost the new kidney.
Since Max has been in and out of the hospital over the past year, the family has acquired thousands of dollars in medical bills. Max's Mom, Melissa, has already used up all of her vacation time at work this year, although there will be many more hospital days coming soon, when Max has yet another kidney transplant.
