Maureen's Cancer treatments

Our hiking Friend,  Maureen Dottle , has cancer and will begin chemo treatments in the second week of September and later in the year will have surgery to hopefully remove the tumors. 
She has dramatically changed her life in the past 5 years and recently earned her certification as an RN in South Carolina. She hikes with us in the Greenville Natural History Association every Wednesday on her day off and attributes much of her progress to a new healthy life style.  Alas, she needs help to pay high deductibles and uncovered hospital expenses.
 
Maureen's mom has Alzheimer's and is actively dying. She wants to visit her soon before it's too late but it will be difficult with her chemo and radiation schedule. She is getting chemo every week for 6 weeks via a port inserted into her chest.  She is getting radiation every day Monday thru Friday for the next 6 weeks. The center for treatment is 20 miles from her home one way. This is a hardship as she works every day and sometimes does 12 hour shifts as a RN. She gets no sleep and heads directly to chemo on Mondays. She has struggled and worked so hard to get to this place in her life and this cancer diagnosis was a real kick in the gut. Her surgery will involve removing 2/3 of her esophagus and moving her stomach up to her chest.  She most likely will have a colostomy bag either temporarily or permanently. Her insurance premiums are high and her deductible is $6,000. She does not have this kind of money available and even though she wants to continue working throughout this ordeal, this may not be possible. We want to help in any way we can!
