Matts: Burnt Hand At Work Fund

I was filling in for a co-worker on vacation and was doing a job I've done 100x before. I went to drain hot condensate from a rail car. As soon as I grabbed the valve to drain it the steam line popped off and cooked my hand with 200 Degree Fahrenheit water. I received 2nd degree burns.
Why I'm on here is because, even though my hand was maimed at no fault of my own, they were not obligated to pay me when I was medically forced to be off and see a burn specialist.
 Workers Comp doesn't kick in until after the 7th day.
 Long story short, the work I was required to perform left me maimed at no fault of my own, and I missed out on 7 days of pay. I live paycheck to paycheck basically and they did not seem to care and they won't let me make a hardship withdrawal from my 401k. I'm just trying to recoup my lost wages so my bank account stops going negative and I can pay my rent and not be at risk of being evicted. Thank you for your time and any help you see fit to offer.
