Matthew's Battle

Our Chooch
Dear friend of Matthew Blake,

You may have heard by now that Matthew Blake has been diagnosed with Stage 3 Myxoid liposarcoma which is a rare and malignant soft tissue tumor. https://rarediseases.info.nih.gov/diseases/7157/myxoid-liposarcoma.

THE BAD NEWS: His oncology team called it “A nasty little thing” and stated that Matthew is in for the fight of his life. And treatment will start ASAP. While there is some insurance coverage it will in no way cover all the medical and living expenses during treatment and recovery. approximately 12 months. He will not be able to work as he will spend most of his time in the ring with this jerk of an illness.

THE GOOD NEWS: He is loved dearly by his family who would do anything for him. And anyone who knows his mom Lisa knows that she is a fighter too! She will be his caregiver during the next several months and will accompany him back and forth to Johns Hopkins in Baltimore where he will receive treatment and excellent medical care. Matthew will have chemotherapy, radiation, many tests and lots of doctors’ appointments and he simply cannot do this on his own. The hospital even requires caregivers as they know Matthew will have chemo brain (fuzzy thinking and memory issues) as well as other physical needs. Lisa is self-employed so she has no Family Leave benefit coverage and will need financial help covering her bills. Supporting Matthew will be her full-time job.

HOW YOU CAN HELP: You know we don’t want to have to ask but we will because we will really need the financial help. So here it goes: Would you please consider giving to our Go Fund me account?
Here is the link and thank you! gofundme.com/matthew039s-battle-team

Maybe you can give a onetime gift or a regular ongoing predetermined amount? Literally anything you can donate is GREATLY appreciated. In addition to medical expenses donations will go to things like utility and rent payments, gas and transportation costs, coffee (lots of that in Lisa’s future) and grab n go meals.

At times like this we can feel so helpless but giving in a tangible way will truly help. So, thank you for considering helping us with a financial gift. WE APPRECIATE IT. You know another thing we appreciate? Your prayers and words of encouragement. THANK YOU!

SHARE OUR LINK: To help us get the word out, you can share our link to your Facebook Timeline! And invite your friends to share too. Oversharing is usually not a good thing but in our case… please feel free to OVERSHARE! To share the link:
