In considering Matthew, we must always consider him, as he is: a man with startling originality, an unrivaled force of energy, and a multitalented powerhouse. When watching Matthew in his natural element, we become witnesses of a special type of gift that can be classified as a once-in-a- generation talent. Matthew’s journey of becoming a world renowned actor began at the tender age of 10. By observing the positive impact that the world of acting had on his community through his involvement with The Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit, Matthew discovered his passion and his purpose in life. Acting is the medium that chose him and allows him to be an agent of positive social change, a resilient voice for his community, and an innovator in his craft.
Within the 13 years of Matthew’s acting career, he has masterfully brought to life over 14 characters via the stage, film, and voiceover work. He has participated in local and national competitions showcasing his skills in the areas of dance, poetry/spoken word, and oratory. As an alumnus of Lewis Cass Technical High School, The NAACP ACT-SO (Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological, Scientific Olympics) Enrichment Program, and Eastern Michigan University, Matthew has built a resume in conjunction with graduating cum laude with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 that has afforded him an opportunity of a lifetime. This fall, Matthew will join the names of some of Hollywood’s elite as he begins the next phase in his journey as a graduate student at the Yale School of Drama.
However, in order for Matthew to fulfill his dream, he must fulfill his financial obligation to his newly minted alma mater, Eastern Michigan University. With your assistance and resources, Matthew will be able to clear his debt to EMU so that his official transcripts and diploma will be released and his financial aid can be applied to his student account at Yale University.
