Matt's Recovery and Rehabilitation
Donation protected
On the early morning of June 17th, Matt was in a bad motorcycle accident near Moose Lake, MN. The details around the accident are not quite clear but we do know he was thrown from his bike. He came into the hospital with both lungs collapsed, head trauma, a fractured neck, and severed cervical spine.
The swelling in his brain has started to subside. He was placed with two chest tubes to drain the blood in and around his chest cavity and lungs. He is also breathing on his own but his lungs are operating at a pretty low capacity yet.
Matt has been a fighter and is in good spirits when he's awake; cracking jokes, picking on his siblings, and being Casanova to the nurses. He is in the ICU and still listed in critical condition so we are requesting please no additional visitors at this time. He will undergo spinal surgery as soon as the swelling is reduced to a safe enough level to operate. We will look at allowing more visitors after this.
We have a very long road ahead of us but are extremely grateful and blessed that he is alive.
