Matt's fight against Leukemia

Donation protected
We are raising money for Matt Sprau.

On Tuesday, July 30th, Shelly and Jim Sprau took Matt to three doctors because of bruising and some frequent nausea. After blood tests he was diagnosed with AML – Acute Myeloid Leukemia.  He was immediately admitted into Bronson Hospital for a blood transfusion. He has started chemotherapy and his first cycle is 10 days, every 12 hours.   He will then be schedule to go to the University of Michigan for a bone marrow transplant where he will be staying an additional 30 – 100 days after the transplant.

This is a double whammy for the family.  Matt was diagnosed on their deceased son’s birthday who passed away 2014.

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) starts in the bone marrow (the soft inner part of certain bones, where new blood cells are made), but most often it quickly moves into the blood, as well. It can sometimes spread to other parts of the body including the lymph nodes, liver, spleen, central nervous system (brain and spinal cord), and testicles. Survival for children rate with AML is approximately 65 to 70%

With his prolonged and intense treatment both parents have applied for FMLA which is unpaid.

They would great appreciate any financial help in their time of crisis.

Thank you!
