The Trevino’s are facing a Brain Tumor. This tumor has attacked his family full force.
On December 26, 2017 Matt was diagnosed with a brain tumor under the left lobe of his brain in front of his hypothalamus. As this tumor grew it caused a seizure disorder which has continued to impact his life. During one of Matt’s increasing seizures, he was involved in a motor vehicle collision, destroying his vehicle and ultimately caused him to lose his driver’s license. In addition to losing his license. Matt was then unable to continue pursuing his passion as a pararescueman and firefighter after 18 years of service. As anyone could imagine, this was devastating to Matt and his family. Now waiting for his disability assistance to start months after losing his position. He is working to beat this challenge!
Throughout 2018 and now 2019 the local Veterans Affairs Hospital has worked to control the epilepsy with various treatments and combinations of medication. To date, the seizures have been unresolved, increasing in intensity and the tumor is untouched. Due to a second opinion from a highly respected doctor in New York, Matt and his family will be seeking a second opinion. We travel to have his tumor assessed and hopefully removed via a surgical procedure. The simple goal is to overcome this medical hurdle, make a quick recovery and get back to living a life that serves those around him. Matt knows that he cannot change the facts, only the way he reacts to them.
Facing this challenge while currently on disability has caused the family to rely on savings and these donations to get by. Matt will directly use these funds raised to pay for his family's travel to the hospital providing surgical treatment to remove the brain tumor and to stay in town while Matt recovers in the intensive care unit. Matt will also use them to help the family cover day to day living expenses and purchase a car for Matt to drive once he has been cleared by the doctors.
