MATT PARKHURST NEEDS YOUR HELP!

Donation protected
Many of you may not be aware that for the past 5 months Matt and Eddie were fighting a courageous battle.  Last November, Eddie began having problems swallowing food and drink.  They were given the impression that Eddie might have a hiatal hernia and he was scheduled for tests.  Unfortunately those tests revealed a much more serious problem.  Eddie was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer of the esophagus.

The plan was that Eddie would undergo 6 weeks of radiation and chemotherapy with the hope that the tumor would shrink and life-saving surgery could be performed.   With all of the strength he could muster, Eddie, with the help of Matt and friends, pushed himself to go through the grueling regimen of treatments that were intended to get him to his life-saving date with a surgeon.  He came so close to the finish line only to be told that his body was too weak to be a candidate for surgery.  Instead, Eddie, Matt and a small group of family and friends met with Hospice to discuss "end of life" caregiving.

Matt took Eddie home to their oasis in the redwoods.  Within a day Eddie was peacefully and mercifully freed of his pain and suffering with his Lou-dog in his lap and his beloved husband Matt and his angelic niece Deanna by his side.

During those 5 months Matt tried to do it all.  He had many, many eighteen hour days trying his best to be Eddie's primary caregiver while at the same time trying to make enough money to survive.  He also had to carve out time for the care of the 2 dogs, house cleaning, laundry, shopping, etc.  Those 5 months have left our Matthew emotionally, physically and financially spent.

Eddie is in a better place.  I am asking that we all turn our love and attention to our dear Matt, one of the sweetest and most generous people I have ever met.  Matt is not one to ask for help.  So I am doing that for him.  Many of you in your FB posts said "if there is anything I can do...".  Well there is.  Matt needs some breathing space.  And he needs help with all of the bills that have piled up.  He needs help making the mortage payment so he can keep his home.  So I am asking you to give what you can.  If it's $5 or $500, it all makes life easier for Matt.

Love and peace to you all!
