Help Mater Dei Academy shine brighter. We are asking for your support with the following two tasks:
1. Raise money through donations or other fundraising activities for our beloved school so that we can hire necessary staff and continue to provide the best religious and academic education for our children. MDA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
2. Invite new families to learn about MDA. Time after time, when we have visitors to our school, we hear that MDA is like a breath of fresh air. Our children are kind and respectful and full of joy. Help us share that with families looking for a school like MDA.
Mater Dei Academy was founded in 1971 as a religious school in the Catholic tradition. Located in Whitehall, Ohio, it is chartered by the State of Ohio for grades Pre-K-8.
Like other Catholic schools, for many years, MDA hosted Friday night bingo to raise funds for the school and keep tuition low in order to continue to serve as many families as possible. However, over time, bingo fell out of favor, and no longer provided revenue for our little school. During that critical time we pulled together and relied on God's grace to see us through keeping the school open. God has been faithful to us and has provided us with some generous sponsors including alumni, prior parents, and even priests who wish to see the mission of the school continue.
Just like other private schools, MDA is dependent on tuition, fund raising, and donations to operate. In order to continue to serve as many families as possible, we are still striving to keep tuition low. The number of families directly impacts the schools guaranteed revenue, so when the school is small we must make up the difference with fundraising and donations.
Sometimes the world can look so dark, and MDA continues to be a light in the darkness. We need you to help us SHINE BRIGHTER, attract more families, and hire more teachers.
Jesus said to his disciples: “You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house. Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.” Matt 5: 13-16
MDA is currently staffed with three teachers who cover K-8 grade. Our wonderful teachers have much on their plate and we need to lighten their load. Please help us by donating to MDA, so that we can continue our mission during a time when it is so critically important. Additionally, help other families by letting them know about this hidden gem, commonly referred to as “Our Blessed Mother’s little school.” MDA welcomes visitors all year long who are considering enrollment.
