David Aguila, co-founder and co-artistic director of aLma.MaddR, is a Los Angeles based performer and composer from Florida. As a performer, Aguila has performed as a trumpeter with various ensembles around the USA and Europe, including the Tonight Show Band , The Industry , Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp International Wind Ensemble, New Century Players, Vinny Golia Large Ensemble, and many others. In addition, Aguila has performed on laptop, live processing instruments, and voice, and as a sound projectionist. These performances include Trumpet + Laptop  at Roy O. Disney Concert Hall, North American premiere of Mauricio Kagel's Nah und Fern at ArtShare LA, and a live scoring of Carl Theodor Dreyer's 1928 film The Passion of Joan of Arc As a composer, Aguila's works have been performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival; receiving four and five star reviews, the Eastman School of Music, California Institute of the Arts, the Australian National Academy, Chosen Vale Trumpet Seminar , and throughout Los Angeles and the United States.

Aguila has been accepted to a one time master's program at the Royal Conservatoire in the Hague, for Sound Projection, specifically for Karlheinz Stockhausen's Opera Licht . The master's program will conclude with the most comprehensive performance of Licht at the Holland Festival in 2019 with the Dutch National Operal and Ballet.  Over the course of three days, 16 hours of instrumental music and 5 hours of electronic music will be staged and performed from Licht. Pieces to be performed include Orchester-Finalisten , Helikopter-Streichquartett , Michaelion & others to be announced.

Aguila is one of five candidates from across the globe to be accepted into the Sound Projection program, and one of three Americans to be accepted into the Master's aus Licht degree. While studying at the Royal Conservatoire, Aguila will be learning from experts who have directly worked with Stockhausen, faculty includes: Kathinka Pasveer - Sound Projection, Paul Jeukendrup - Sound Engineering, Renee Jonker - Ensemble Coach, as well as world renowned instrumental faculty. The sound projectionist's role in these works is to prepare the musicians and performance hall for amplification, and perform from the mixing console.

Due to timing of acceptance, scholarships and grants have been limited, Aguila is setting up this campaign to help with the cost of tuition and living expenses throughout the first year of the program. Please consider donating, to help David attend this once in a lifetime opportunity. Those who donate above a certain pledge level, will recieve all the preceding perks.
