This is Mason Ratten.

A cheeky, smiley and caring little boy who has just been diagnosed with Leukaemia.

Mason must undergo chemotherapy and radiation therapy. This will be a lengthy battle for him, his parents Gerald Hart and Jamie Kuru and little brother Lachlan.

All funds raised will go towards helping Mason's family cover the costs associated with all the hospital visits coming up. As well as enable Mason's parents to focus their time and energy on looking after Mason and his little brother. Rather than stressing about the burden of bills that keep piling up. (Food, day care, power, water, rent/mortgage, hospital visits etc) Mason's dad Gerald just told me how much this had hit their family and the toll on their emotions, plus his work that takes him away from home often.

It broke my heart to think about him having to leave the house for lenghty periods of time  with his partner Jamie, little lad Lachlan and now sick son Mason at home to battle on by themselves. I thought if we could raise some money Mason's parents could spend more time at home than at work and focus on helping nurture their family.

The sooner we can get funds rolling in the better.

I will be so grateful if we can help this little family out, but probably not as grateful as Mason would be knowing your funds will enable him to have both his parents and little brother by his side as he attempts to Kick Leukaemia's Butt!

PLEASE NOTE:  All funds are in AUD and will be deposited into Geralds parents account in Queensland, Australia for the gofundme rules and legalities, they will then pass on all the money donated to Gerald and Jamie in New Zealand.

When I had the idea of the GoFundMe campaign for Mason and his family I never thought it would get even close to the 10k mark. I just put it out there in hope, and now it is so close to the goal I am filled with joy and reassurance that when our friends need us most they are there for support.
Thank you for helping a young lad and his amazing family. xoxo

Morning all! Well we have now completed the induction phase of Mason’s treatment. Mase got put under again yesterday so that they could do another lumber puncture and bone marrow test. The test gets sent over to Sydney so hopefully by Monday/Tuesday we should get the results back for that which will help determine what Mason’s future treatment plan will look like. He now has a 5 day break from any hospital appointments and medication so he’s pretty happy about that. Starting next Wednesday he will then do another cycle of chemo which will be for 22 days. They are using slightly different drugs for this cycle and he will have 4 lots of Intrathecal (IT) which is chemo that they put into his spine. Once this cycle is finished they will repeat this again but he won’t have to have any IT procedures. Today we are back into hospital but this time for Locky as he is getting grommets put in. Hope you all have a lovely weekend! P.S the photo below was taken yesterday by Locky before I went in with Mason for his procedure. As you can see Locky’s photography skills are

Good afternoon everyone. Just thought I'd put a quick update for those not on Mason's Journey Facebook page. Mason is responding really well to the 7+ rounds of chemo he has had so far in the past 13 days. He has had multiple blood transfusions and so many antibiotics it's just crazy, he is still not bargaining on taking his medication which means he is getting a tube put down his nose, into his stomach which will allow us to give him the meds he needs without fighting with us. Once this is all done we will be allowed to go home from hospital and try get used to normalish life again with trips into the hospital every 3-4 days for treatment and tests. Mason's spirits are reasonably high at the moment but he is over talking about it all so we try to distract him with his new favorite food ( bacon and hollandaise sauce) haha.

Thank you for all your support so far . Your comments and gestures mean the world to us and you are making our lives just that little bit easier to handle during this tough time.
