It is a sad day for Phi Kappa Psi. Our house dog was in a hit and run accident which left him requiring multiple surgeries and having a leg amputated. Our President, Chris Santos, is struggling to pay for these bills and the Brothers of Phi Psi can only do so much.
We need your help to ensure that Marley receives the treatments he deserves.

Anything you can contribute is greatly appreciated.

Addendum :  After some medical complications the goal has been raised to 2750.

I am glad this sweet dog was helped! and in reply to Mari, I think you miss read the amount! It is $2,750.00 not $275! I hate people that want to judge some when they don't know the full situation! Granted I worry when a house pet gets out too but, it does happen. I adopted a kitten over a year ago now & it happened right after I got her, she sneaked out when letting my dog out to go potty before bed. I was a nervous wreck for 40 hours. Thank God I got her back it. I paid $50 reward. And some people myself included aren't rich! It doesn't mean we don't Love & adore our furbabies!!! I am now on disability from getting hurt trying to walk into work in 2008, so I would hope if I ever needed help I wouldn't be judged. Maybe you should have more compassion!!! Things happen in life we have no control over. If they were mistreating the dog then yes they shouldn't have it but, they love it so please think before judging others!!! I would lay down my life for my Pit/Lab mix as well as my young cat. And my dog would do the same for me. Yet if God forbid something happened & I needed help it wouldn't be because I didn't care it would be because I can't work to make the money I once did. And I loved what Planned Pethood head vet said on his show recently: "He said he knew homeless people who loved their pets more than some rich people & that he loved helping the one homeless man he did help as the man came in & paid faithfully $10 til the amount of $100 was covered. Also said he knew rich people who disposed of their dogs if they didn't match their new furniture. I sobbed watching that episode. I will always help someone if I can ever with their fur babies as they are family. Please if you can't put yourselves in others shoes & be kind & thoughtful then keep quiet.

Mari Valentenyi wrote clearly & correctly about the vet bill: if 10 (approx) brothers contribute - a not exorbitant $275/ea = $2,750.00, the bills total. I believe she made a great point about our personal responsibility (including financial) when we agree to invite an animal into our lives.

So glad you are getting the money needed for vet care but I am concerned that the 'house dog' got out and was hit by a car. Perhaps he needs to be in a situation where his owner can be more responsible for making sure he is not in the street! IMO, the brothers should certainly have been able to pool their money for 'their' dog . This is not a large sum when divided among even 10 people. If the brothers cannot afford even $275 for a vet bill, perhaps they shouldn't have a 'house' dog!

$275.00 for a bunch of college kids IS exorbitant! Judge not, peeps, or you shall be judged. Call me judgemental, but put yourself in their shoes, paying for classes, food, lodging, books - any idea what those cost nowadays? - etc. etc., and no decent source of income, and you'll see how hard it would be to come up with a "not exorbitant" amount. Yes, they need to be able to cover costs, but sometimes things happen. I'm very pleased that they were able to raise the amount necessary. Now, guys, maybe a good car wash would be a good idea to create a rainy day fund?
