Mark Sadler’s immunotherapy treatment

We are running the Birmingham Half Marathon on Sunday 14th April in unity as friends and family to raise important and incredibly valuable funds for Mark Sadler’s immunotherapy treatment.
Our childhood friend is suffering a long-standing battle with bowel cancer for a second time. After a healthy 5 years in remission, his bowel cancer has unfortunately returned and spread into other areas. As well as other family members, he has also been diagnosed with Lynch syndrome, a type of inherited cancer syndrome associated with a genetic predisposition to different cancer types, meaning he has a higher risk of certain types of cancer.
After undergoing a major operation in November to remove part of the tumour, it has been determined as squamous cell cancer, which is extremely rare in these parts of the body and been told that treatment is extremely limited and his only option is immunotherapy.
This is a fairly new type of treatment which is giving very positive results against various types of cancer but unfortunately for his particular case, the treatment is not available through the NHS, so his only chance is to self-fund his treatment.
Our friend, a husband, father and grandfather is going through the most brutally difficult life experience, living in chronic pain every day and reluctantly adapting his life to fight off the grasp of this truly horrendous disease.
