Mark Murphy medical crisis
Mark is currently in ICU at the Cleveland clinic in a coma. He is suffering from multiple organ failure he is in need of a liver transplant his kidneys are failing he's on dialysis 24 hours a day he has a lung infection a blood infection and cdiff. When he does come out of this, it will still be several months before he's able to come home. I'm setting up this campaign for him so that his household can be maintained while he recovers. Anyone that knows Mark knows he is a fighter. Mark has a very long road ahead of him but I know he can do this.+ Read More
The ventilator was removed on Friday. Yesterday was the first day Mark was alert and talking it was amazing. They finally cleared him for regular foods and he wanted a homewrecker from Moe's and he ate half of it!! I didn't think he would be able to handle it since he hasn't had anything to eat in several weeks. His blood pressure is still low but doing better and they were able to up his dialysis from 50mls an hour to 100mls today. The doctors are hoping that he can be moved to a regular room and get out of the ICU early this week . Once he is in a regular hospital room he'll be taken off the 24 hour a day dialysis and start regular treatments 3 days a week. This is a 1,000,000% improvement from where he was last Sunday. He's a fighter and I hope he will continue to get better. Again, thanks for everyone's phone calls, prayers, donations and genuine concern. Mark and I both appreciate everything everyone has done.
Yesterday was promising, Mark's breathing had improved so the doctors lessened the volume on the ventilator. His blood pressure had stabilized so that med was removed and the doctors were able to remove the central line and a line. He was more aware but still very groggy. The doctors wanted to take the ventilator out today but this morning Mark became extremely agitated and they needed to increase the volume to max on the ventilator. He was much more alert today very aggravated that he couldn't talk and quite tired of having all of these things in his throat. While I was there his blood pressure dropped everybody came rushing in taking meds off pushing meds and they got it under control. They're hoping to take him off the ventilator tomorrow but he asked to remain calm he was thrashing constantly while I was there today. He even figured out how to violently shake his head back-and-forth and thrust his body and the ventilator tube's kept popping off. Like I said he is a fighter he just wants that ventilator gone hopefully tomorrow will be better. Thank you all for everybody's prayers donations and happy vibes.
Yesterday I was told Mark would need a brain scan today because he was not waking up on his own after sedation was stopped. Overnight his breathing improved and they decided to not do the brain scan. When I saw him today he responded when I said his name we actually made eye contact for almost 10 seconds. He continued to try to open his eyes he also tried to get out of bed but he is in restraints because he tried to pull his ventilator out( that's our Mark). Today seems better than the past week, hopefully he keeps fighting and he'll be awake completely and can be taken off the ventilator by the weekend I hope. The doctors say he meets criteria to have that removed but he needs to be conscious enough to tell them what hurts and he's not there yet. I want to thank everybody that has shared the go fund me and everyone that has donated I know Mark will appreciate it to .
