Mario Teixeira Medical Expenses

We are the family for Mario Melo Teixeira, 55, a husband to Irene and father to Sara, Mario and Catarina.  On December 17, 2015 our world changed forever.  Mario was diagnosed with a massive tumor the size of a football on his right kidney.   The mass was so large it consumed his kidney, and both were removed.  Thereafter, Mario was told he had a rare cancer "Spindle Cell Sarcoma of the Kidney" and he needed to seek out the Memorial Sloan Kettering organization for assistance with this rare cancer.  As soon as Mario began his journey with Sloan, he was advised a large mass and some other smaller ones had returned in the same spot where the prior mass and kidney were removed.  Mario had to immediately commence aggressive chemotherapy.  Despite the sickness of chemo, everything was going well until February this year.  Mario's body was given a chemo break for a month and unfortunately at the end of the month we found out the masses started to gain strength again.  The doctor quickly commenced chemo again and nothing she gave him since seemed to work.  Not even the new clinical trials for Immunotherapy.  We then began aggressive radiation and it didn't work either.  Mario has been hospitalized many times in this past month and a half and recently advised there was nothing more that could be done.  The illness is winning the battle.  Mario is currently in-home hospice care and surrounded by his loving family.  We ask for your generosity to help with medical bills that will be soon rolling in from this last month and a half of craziness in and out of the hospital and to help with funeral expenses.   Our hearts are broken, and Christmas will never be the same for us.
