Marilyn's Final Goodbye

Donation protected
Marilyn, 14 years old, was excited to travel this summer. After the hard work and dedication she put into her studies, her mother rewarded her with a trip to her family’s homeland. She traveled to  El Salvador and Guatemala with her paternal aunt and had the opportunity to visit and spent  time with extended family.

After more than 3 weeks of traveling and a few days left to return Marilyn fell sick in Guatemala. She was taken to a private hospital, after several attempts by the doctors she succumbed to the illness and passed on 7/16/16. She passed due to complications caused by the Chikungunya virus, a prominent virus currently affecting the country. She passed in a foreign country in the absence of her loving mother, father and immediate family.  She must of been so scared .

Our family is doing everything we can to bring her back to her mother but due to limited resources it’s been a painful challenge. I cannot begin to imagine the pain felt by Marilyn’s mother, knowing that her child has passed away and not being able to see her or touch her and say her last good-bye’s.

Marilyn Duran had such a unique silly personality and was so full of life. She was a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a niece, a cousin, a student, and a friend. She will be greatly missed.

I take comfort in knowing that her last days were filled with adventures and happiness. Life isn't fair some times and it is hard to make sense of it all. At 14 years of age God decided to take you with him and make you one if his angels. May you rest in peace my beautiful.

With financial support offered by immediate family and friends, we are still short of the total amount needed to bring her body back. We are asking the community for your assistance to help begin the healing process in assisting us in bringing Marilyn back home to her loving parents, siblings, and immediate family

I am making this page in efforts to raise money for the body delivery service and funeral services.  Help us bring her home. A lot of family has offered to donate but now I ask you friends to help us raise the money needed to bring Marilyn back home to her loving family. In advance, I THANK YOU for your support and prayers. In this time of need, Anything will help

Catherine Amaya, Marilyn's niece,  is the beneficiary to this campaign and will be the one handling all of the funds.

Thank you for your support!

These are some pictures that were taken during her trip.
