March for Science High Country CO

Tax deductible
On Earth Day April 22nd 2017, Breckenridge will be joining 400 Satellite Marches for Science nationwide and around the world. We will march from the South Gondola Lot, along the Riverwalk to The Village at Breckenridge for a “Celebration of Science" with speakers and live music from The Pine Beatles and The Ameilas.

We will have Nick Wolf from EarthJustice talking on public land and endangered species. Colorado nature photographer and Summit County resident John Fielder will be on hand to project his favorite photographs of our county on a large outdoor screen enhanced with beautiful music. John will discuss his observations about the effect of global warming on our county, state, and planet based upon 40 years of photographing the natural world. Local businesses and organizations will talk on high country conservation efforts. Tables will be set up where you can meet and talk with our speakers. Children can enjoy tents with Earth Day activities.

Our goal is an educational event celebrating science, while also enjoying some awesome music and making it a fun family event - free to all. We’re hoping this will become an annual Breckenridge Earth Day event with enough support.

The idea for this event came about when 5 local women were planning to attend the Denver March for Science then thought, we should be marching right here!! Our mountain communities are going to be very affected by climate change from our ski slopes to trout needing cool rivers. After all, “The Earth is what we all have in common.” Wendell Berry.

We are requesting donations to assist with the cost of permits, banners, posters, flyers, advertising, and rental of our rally location.   Your donation is tax deductible. Any amount is appreciated and any donations that exceed our costs will be donated to High Country Conservation. We would like to extend a public thank you to Breckenridge Grand Vacations and Continental Divide Winery who have pledged donations and will be working with us on this exciting event.

Thank you for your consideration and generosity. We hope to see you there!
