As organizers of the satellite March for Science in Raleigh, North Carolina, we follow the Mission, Principles and Goals, and Diversity Principles put forth by the organizers of the National March for Science in Washington, DC.

Like the National March organizers, we are committed to envisioning a long term plan of action that will extend past April 22nd, the day of the march. To build a movement for science that will catalyze actions for lasting impact, we believe the mission and principles must be locally-rooted and embraced by the people of North Carolina. Therefore, we have begun the process of making connections between the national principles and our home state by reaching out to organizations already working on issues that fall under the Mission, Principles, and Goals summarized below. For a full text version of each of these, please visit https://www.marchforscience.com/mission/.

Every donation supports the march: permits, police, portable restrooms, loss of revenue for local businesses, insurance, barricades, sound system for speakers, and much more to ensure the march is a safe and productive effort! See below for the current breakdown.

Wow! April 22 is almost here and we couldn't be more excited! If you haven't already, please register so we can better prepare for turnout: https://sites.google.com/site/marchforscienceraleigh/register.

We have a great list of speakers for the post-march rally. In case you missed the ones we've announced so far, check out our website daily for updates: https://sites.google.com/site/marchforscienceraleigh/rally.

We still need a bit more to cover our costs comfortably, but we're closer to our goal than we thought a week ago. Thanks so much for making the march happen!

Happy Friday! We have some big announcements we'd like to share with you all!

Today we submitted the application for AdvocateScience's (c)(3) status with the IRS. Approval should take a few weeks, but tax exemption will be retroactive to our date of incorporation, 7 March 2017. This means all of your donations will be considered tax deductible! We will keep you updated on the status and details as we hear back from the IRS.

We're continuing to work with the Raleigh Police Department and Special Events Office on the march plans which will be formally announced upon permit approval. Stay tuned next week for another big announcement about the march...!

Our first Bonfire campaign was such a success we're following it up with a brief second one. Although they can't make promises, Bonfire feels confident any new orders placed before April 4 will arrive in time for the march. If you haven't gotten your shirt yet, there's still time! https://www.bonfire.com/m4s-r/

Our Volunteer Open House will be tomorrow, 4:30 - 6:30, at the Durham County Library - South Regional Branch, 4505 South Alston Ave. Please spread the word and RVSP! https://tinyurl.com/RM4SOpenHouse

We also want you to come to our next fundraising event, Parched for Science - The Station, next Wednesday, April 5 from 7:00 to 11:00. Drop in and meet the organizers and fellow marchers! We'll be accepting cash donations, and The Station is generously donating 10% of proceeds. https://www.facebook.com/events/589239787953481/

As always, we cannot thank you enough!

Dear Raleigh Marchers for Science,

We wish to express our gratitude for your support and desire to see the March for Science - Raleigh become a reality. We stand for the potential science has to improve the lives of all people and therefore believe it should shape policy and decision-making. In the absence of public visibility, we are ineffective. This is why we stand up and march for what has propelled humanity to some of its greatest accomplishments.

Thanks to all of our donors, we are in the process of securing Moore Square for the post-march rally! We are currently finalizing the route plan for the March itself and will announce the route upon permit approval. There are a number of other events going on that day we are planning around as well as ensuring access to public transit terminal remains unobstructed.

We also wanted to invite you to our Volunteer Open House this Saturday, April 1 (no joke!) at the Durham County South Regional Public Library. Please spread the word and RSVP.

We're all so excited to see people's enthusiasm for this cause. It's a refreshing reminder that there is still hope for a society grounded in evidence-based truth. Stay tuned for more information at our official website. We can't wait to march with you April 22!

Since Brewgaloo is happening on the same day, there should already be portable toilets set up. You might be able to save some money there.
