March For Our Lives Short Film

Donation protected
Hi! My partner is a film major at CU Boulder and I am photographer, we are currently working on a short film that will show the fight for gun regulation laws and the school shooting events of this country, attempting to demonstrate the passion of young political activist . We will be traveling to Washington DC to attend the March For Our Lives, which we will not only participate in but also film. The total cost for this entire project to be completed is $1k, including the flight, cheapest motel possible, equipment transportation, and movie completion. We are also trying to include Douglas High School survivor interviews, including Emma Gonzalez. With your help we can make this proyect possible and contribute to this movement.
Thank you very much,
Julieta Pierrotti & Brandon Castillo

Who are we, where we’re from AND our connection to the movement :

My partner and I are both former Florida students. I graduated last year from Dr.Michael M. Krop Senior High, which is only about 40 min away from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, while he graduated two years ago from American Heritage school. We now currently live in Boulder, Colorado. Although we’ve graduated and left Florida, I still feel connected to the students and the tragedy that occurred February 14th. These tragic events keep happening, and just like many students around the nation we want change. This film is our way of contributing to the movement and supporting the Douglas survivors, while leaving a mark after the march is over.

How the funds will be spent:

I have researched the cheapest flights and hotel possible for the project to be done. We will only bring 1 carry on with the film equipment and some clothes. The trip will be March 22-March 26. We have selected those days due to flight prices significantly increasing March 23 and 25th, and not reaching the march on time if we travel the 24th. The total cost calculated was $850 including flights, carry on, hotel and taxes for both (flight prices keep changing and rising so we are trying reach the goal ASAP). The left $150 will be spent on transportation, rental of sound equipment at CU for the 4 days, and food. I will also make a separate blog video of the trip, where it will be visible what we do, how we film, and the money spending process. The video will be found in my YouTube channel “Julieta Pierrotti” (there’s no current videos). This video will be separate from the short documentary, but it will prove to the donors that we are only spending the money on the projects necessities.

Our withdrawal plan:

We will withdraw the money once we reach our flight/hotel goal of $850 and purchase everything right away before traveling to DC. Due to the flight prices increasing over time we hope to reach this goal ASAP. The rest of the money will be withdrawn March 22nd and be untouched, only to be used in Washington DC. The airline used for this project is Sprint, if you know of any cheaper flights please let us know.
