MarathoNia: Increasing Accessibility to Nia for All!

If you know me, you know how much I love sharing the gifts of Nia. What you may not know is that I am equally committed to offering Nia to groups and individuals whose financial obstacles prohibit them from paying full price. Here's where you come in! Help me keep offering Nia and even expand my outreach by making a contribution here towards Nia scholarships. I am thrilled to have the chance to run in the sold-out Sugarloaf Marathon on May 21, 2017 in Carrabassett Valley, Maine, and am using this race as motivation!

Running a marathon takes commitment and time. It takes perseverance and grit. Nia teaches me that the body demands balance; that being successful at an endurance race also takes listening, softening and balancing the go-go-go with the ... s-l-o-w ... I seriously doubt I would be in such good shape for my race if I didn’t have the 6 weekly Nia classes I teach reminding of the principles of The Body’s Way

As a Nia teacher, I am in this for the long run -- pun intended! If you’ve ever done Nia with me, your financial backing is a shimmy and a wink to keep doing what I love and sharing the contagious Joy of Movement. If you are at all inspired by my marathon training, your dollar support is a virtual way of giving me a high five along the route… And believe me, I’ll need all the high-fives I can get!

Most of all, your financial support is an encouraging way of supporting my mission as a Nia Black Belt Teacher in Maine: to reach as many individuals as I can with the healing power of Nia so that we each may awaken and live to our highest potential.

Here are a few of the individuals and groups who would directly benefit from your dollar support, at any level:

+  The single mom with a life-long physical condition who finally has found a movement class in Nia that helps and doesn’t hurt her, but who cannot afford a full session, so I accept whatever she can pay, happy she shows up for her self-care and prioritizes her health.

+  The young women, many of them single moms, who are recovering from addiction, living in a sober house, and who light up with laughter and sense profound quiet and gratitude after an hour class with the unique expressiveness, confidence building, and mindfulness skills that Nia teaches.

+  The residents in assisted living whose faces brighten and whose laughter fills the room as we call out together and playfully engage the imagination and body through expressive Nia movement while seated in a circle together.

As a Nia Black Belt, I continue to grow as a teacher and have never stopped developing my practice since first receiving my White Belt in September of 2009, teaching hundreds of classes and dozens of workshops over the last 7 years. Last year alone I taught over 200 classes! Together with your financial support we can bring Nia to even more bodies in and around Maine.

And that’s not all! Check out these incentives to give:

$26.20 ($1/mile): A smiling, sweaty selfie sent directly to your smartphone post-training run!

$52.40 ($2/mile): An Erin-original art card filled to the brim with my appreciation and, of course, sparkle to spare AND an elevating Erin bear-hug in person AND a sweaty selfie sent directly to your smartphone!

$104.80 ($4/mile): All of the previous offerings AND a free class pass to any one of my Nia classes!

$157.20+ ($6/mile & more): All of the previous offerings, PLUS a 30-minute optional small-group phone session focused on the marathon training and nutrition guidelines I have had success with!

Thank you -- from the soles of my feet to the crown of my head -- for your interest in my training and cause.

“We is the new Me”

A final word of gratitude to say that I wouldn’t be doing what I love today and courageously pursuing my passion without all the love and support I have received throughout my life from family, friends, the students in my classes, and the teachers and trainers who have taught me so much. A big appreciation also goes to my loving and ever-supportive husband, Bob, who is always cheering me on.

Thank you, one and all! Together, we can DO THIS!
