Marathon (42.2km) for Breakfast

I am an ex-military officer who served as a military parachutist and in the UK Special Forces Group. 'R U OK?' is a very important charity for me.  As with many other ex-serviceman, we have faced adversity head on in fierce combat situations and I, along with others, continue to live with the sounds, thoughts and memories every day.

To raise awareness, I have committed to a fundraising event, during which I will put myself through the pain and stress of carrying the same weight as military soldiers are expected to fight with over a distance of 42.2km. As a soldier, the only proven method of transport is your body, you can’t always rely on vehicles or aircraft. I will run the marathon distance carrying 55 pounds in a patrol pack and will wear combat uniform and boots, as well as carry my own water and food on top of the 55 pounds.

The event details:

- I will start the run at 04:30am on Wednesday 23 Oct just to the south of Black Rock (22km to the south of the CBD)
- I will then run up the coast and cut in to Albert Park and run the track around the lake twice (9.6km)
- I will then run across to the Shrine of Remembrance and do 3 laps of the 'Tan' run route (11 km)
- I will then run across to the river path and finish at 2 Riverside Quay having completed a full marathon (42.2km)

I would really appreciate any support in helping me get this up and running, through donations, rallying others, advertising it and even waving a flag or two along the route and at the finish.
