Medical Bills

My name is Tanooj Chowdary. Im an international student and im writing this on behalf of my dearest friend and one of the hardworking people i have ever met in my life

She is 24 and a strong independent woman struggling through life in Miami and she came to this great country with the hope of making her dreams come true by finishing her degree and kickstart a company.

Unfortunately on the 21st of Sept 2016, i got a call from her friend stating that she started to experience  severe pain in her abdomen and was rushed to the hospital as an emergency. The doctors at the hospital (Aventura Hospital and Medical Center,Florida )said that it was a case of appendicits. They have treated her for it(the medical term is "laproscopic appendectomy") on a high priority basis . I was really worried about her as I was in Illinois at the time and she had no direct family to take care of her. The doctors were kind enough to do the surgery and she is now discharged from the hospital and I am taking care of her. 

After a month or so post-op, she received the medical bills arriving one after the other.The total bill had the sumup total to be around 120K!! We were blown away out of our minds at what we saw with the high insulin charge and other subcharges. We are students to begin with and we dont have that kind of money to pay off the hospital bills. On enquiring the hospital on the bills charged, they showed us all the surcharges and still its the same amount. She has no insurance to cover her medical costs and i can only spend so much to help her. We have tried all options to make sense of this and asked the hospital to put out a donation campaign or any alternatives but in vain. 

After a hiatus , we were able to schedule a huge exempt from our fees and now the medical bill stands around 35k which is still a huge sum to pay.

A donation,small or big,would greatly help her in paying off her dues achieving her goal in life . Please spread the word . God bless you all.
