Mama Caught Fire's Debut Album
Donation protected
Welcome!
We are Mama Caught Fire, a trio whose music explores harmony, storytelling, and the power of the voice. We are asking for your help in recording our first full-length album, Listen As She Speaks.
We (Molly, Julia, and Abigail) have been writing and performing together for four years. These years have taken us from singing in our dorm rooms to performing around the Twin Cities at venues like The Warming House, Grand Oak Opry, Icehouse, and the Cedar Cultural Center. We want to honor these songs by bringing them into the recording studio and onto an album. We’d love for you to join us on this journey.
The details of our album
Listen As She Speaks will explore themes of mourning and healing. Our individual stories come together to explore the nuances of grief and the healing that comes from being in nature and with community.
We’re honored to be recording with Reid Kruger of Waterbury Music + Sound. The 12 tracks will feature our original sound -- three-part harmony accompanied by guitar, ukulele, or piano. In addition, we’re excited to add instruments like bass and drums to a few tracks.
We will be working with Chicago-based artist Molly Costello, whom we’ve admired for several years. She will be doing the album’s graphic design and cover, which will likely be used for T-shirts and prints.
This album will be available in hard copy and digital download sometime in late spring. Take a look at the rewards to see how you can snag a copy with your donation! Please note that rewards will be shipped after the campaign is completed.
Gratitude for your support
Our band’s story has always been tied to the good people who’ve supported us -- from Macalester professors who’ve mentored us, to the folks at the Chatterbox pub open mic, to the many musicians who have shared their music alongside ours at The Solstice Series shows. And to anyone who finds this campaign and donates to our project.
We’re asking for your support, in any amount, to help us pay for album recording, production, promotion, and merchandise, and to pull off a great release show this spring. To understand where your donation goes in more detail, see our breakdown of costs below.
