We are the owners of Mallias Bungalows on Gili Meno. We employ an amazing team of 40 local Indonesian people. You can learn more about our team from our facebook account www.facebook.com/malliasbungalowsandrestaurant and on our instagram @malliasbungalows.
Mallias Bungalows is a boutique beach front hotel on Gili Meno, the smallest of the Gili islands off the west coast of Lombok, that has been operational since 1985. In fact, it is the first tourist accomodation on Gili Meno and over the years has employed hundreds of local Indonesians.
On August 5, 2018, a major earthquake devistated Lombok, Indonesia and the neighboring Gili islands. Hundreds of people have lost their loved ones, their homes and businesses and some have lost all of their possessions.
We are lucky and grateful. Though the recent earthquake has devastated our picturesque resort none of our staff or guests were injured. And we plan to rebuild, quickly. Until we do, we want to continue to provide income to our beautiful team, our family, who make Mallias Bungalows a magical place.
Many of our staff have lost their homes and small family businesses, and some have lost their loved ones. We are asking for your support to help all 40 of our staff and their families persevere through this tragedy.
100% of your donations will be divided equally amongst all of our staff and go directly to our staff's bank accounts. With your help we will be able to provide our team with some income to feed and shelter their families until we are able to offer them work again at Mallias. Minimum wage in Indonesia is less than $200 AUD per month. And we take great pride in offering our staff wages above the legal minimum, healthcare benefits, and allowances such as tranportation and meals.
We are reaching out to all of our former guests, future guests, friends, family and all others who want to show their love and support for some of the victims of the Lombok earthquake.
