These two are the youngest of my crew. They are the biggest part of my grind. But sometimes even with my grind, it is not enough to meet their needs being a single mom.
Last year, we took a tremendous hit to my finances when I lost my job. The great news is, I am FINALLY PERMANENTLY EMPLOYED!!!
However, aftercare expenses are a huge chunk of my budget...a whopping $1,000/month (and that doesn't include room for extra cirricular activities). I applied for childcare vouchers, only to be rejected because I made too much money...but not enough to pay for daycare (Go figure-whoever does those calculations never factored in the cost of living for Maryland)!...
I have to pay rent, a car note to shuffle them back and forth to school, medical insurance and the list goes on!
My aftercare provider, Mrs. Tyree at Young Achiever's Learning Center, was gracious enough to let my children stay in aftercare even though I could not afford to pay her at the time. Now I have a whopping balance of $7,000 to pay. She has worked out a budget ($1,200/month), in order to keep them in aftercare, which is needed because I HAVE TO WORK! But even with the budget, I am still down $5,000.
I NEVER ask for public HELP. I always try to keep a side grind going (eg. writing books and resumes). But now I am pushing aside my pride and asking. Every dime I collect will go towards the payoff of this debt. Anything above this will go towards keeping them in school without this heavy burden.
