Diane’s family is asking for your help…she is fighting a battle for her life!
Diane is a single working mother of three grown children. Josh, Isaiah, and her beautiful daughter Audrey who is a senior in High School this year. Diane was diagnosed in September of 2020 with a rare and aggressive inoperable cancer, Cholangiocarcinoma (Bile Duct cancer of the Liver). She will be going through chemotherapy and radiation treatment with the finial imperative treatment of a complete Liver Transplant.
What is Bile Duct Cancer Video
Diane’s fight against cancer has been one that started in November of 2016 when she was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. During her fight against breast cancer she went through chemotherapy and surgery. In June of 2017 she was relieved to be informed that she was free from breast cancer. The day she was able to ring the bell for beating her stage 2 breast cancer was a day that she will never forget. It was also a day Diane would have never imagined she would be told, just a few short years later, that she was now diagnosed with another type of cancer. An aggressive cancer that is extremely rare with fewer than 20,000 cases per year in the United States. Not only is it a rare cancer but also a cancer that is hard to detect and difficult to treat without a liver transplant; however, in Diane’s case it is not only treatable but most likely curable with having the transplant.
As Diane awaits her essential liver transplant, she will start her chemotherapy and radiation treatment. Being the soul supporter of herself and her daughter, she will need all the assistance she can graciously receive to let her focus on her recovery.
During her radiation treatment and liver transplant Diane will have to stay in Durham, North Carolina for at least 12 weeks. The upfront, out of pocket expense for her to stay in Durham will approximately be $9,240.00. After Diane’s liver transplant she will also have a lifetime of required traveling from her home to the Duke Transplant Center in North Carolina for treatment and continuous care, which is about 3.5 hours of travel time one way.
The proceeds of Diane’s GoFundMe Page will first help to cover the medical expenses that Diane will be left responsible for above and beyond her medical insurance, an estimated $30,000.00 as well as any additional expenses for Diane and her immediate family as they navigate through this difficult journey.
Please share whatever you can, it matters, it makes a difference, and it will be greatly appreciated.
