Makara's Memorial Fund
Donation protected
On December 2, 2016, Brandon and Nicole LaMora suffered a fire in their upstate NY home. Brandon, Nicole, and their son were not harmed, but their dog Makara and cats Sam, Skyler, and Camie tragically perished in the blaze. While volunteer firefighters worked to save the home, they lacked the proper equipment and training to be able to provide first aid to the LaMora family's pets.
In the aftermath of the fire, the LaMoras discovered that their home and material possessions will be replaced by insurance; however, the cost of veterinary care for pets injured in fires and even the cost of their proper burial is NOT covered by homeowners' insurance.
In the wake of suffering such a heart-wrenching loss, the LaMoras want to do something to help ensure that the fire department has the equipment and training necessary to assist animals in need and that pet owners who have just gone through such a life-changing, tragic experience do not have to worry about the financial aspects of providing veteirnary care to their beloved 4-legged family members.
The LaMoras would like to raise $5,000 to provide veterinary oxygen-delivery equipment as well as training in animal first aid to their area volunteer fire departments for use in future emergencies in memory of Makara, Sam, Skyler, and Camie. Remaining contributions will be donated to an Angel fund for veterinary care of pets injured in house fires. Your donation could mean the difference between life and death for a beloved family pet.
