I am the principal of Agnes Gray Elementary School in West Paris, ME, and Betsey Cooper is our wondeful third grade teacher.  Our school is part of the Oxford Hills MSAD#17 district and is located in the heart of W. Paris.  We currently serve approximately 102 students, grades PreK-4.  Seventy-six percent of our families live at or below the poverty line. Betsey and I have a commitment from Gould Academy's Reachout community service organization to build a 16' x 20' building that will facilitate experiential, hands-on learning in our school's backyard. We foresee more in-kind donations from local building supply retailers and local contractors. However,  we are in search of further funding to ensure completion this spring.

A bit of history.....

For the past year, we have been working on The Outdoor Classroom Initiative, a 5-year project supported by Agnes Gray staff and PTO. The initiative includes the development of 4 interrelated components: Expeditionary-experiential/hands-on-STE(A)M teaching and learning, a physically active and socially healthy recess program, attractive and productive school gardens, and a trail system to be accessed directly behind the school. The Outdoor Classroom Initiative enables teachers in the school to build knowledge and skills in all curriculum areas in a way that ensures student engagement that ultimately leads to success.

Please consider helping to support our initiative to enrich the lives of our students and our staff.

Hello. The timber frame has been completed and the roof is in place. The used windows and a door have been purchased at a minimal cost. We are now looking for more financial support to purchase the live edge cedar siding and materials to frame the walls. Please help if you can.
Thanks,
Beth

Hello. Thanks to all who have supported the building of our outdoor classroom at Agnes Gray Elementary School. We are still looking to raise about $4,500 and wondered if you would still consider making a donation.
Thank you!

Hi. Beth and a colleague are working on a fundraising drive to purchase building materials for an 16' x 20' classroom in the backyard of Agnes Gray Elementary School. The structure will be built by a Gould Academy service learning organization in April. Phase one of the plan was completed this fall as the bridge connecting the playground to the trail system is in place. The classroom will serve as a hub for future experiential learning opportunities for students and staff. Please consider donating to the project.
Thank you!
