Mahwah Families - Condo Fire

On Tuesday, February 2, 2016 a fire broke out in a condominium complex located in Mahwah, NJ. The fire started on the second of three floors in the complex, and quickly engulfed the apartment on the third floor.
Mahwah's first responders quickly responded to the scene and thought that all were out and were safe -- until three Mahwah Police Officers at the scene realized that there was a 9 year old girl trapped by the fire, stuck on up on the third floor. They encouraged the girl to jump, and without hesitation, she leapt off of the third floor balcony and into their arms. The three officers rescued her and saved her from what could have potentially been a devastating outcome.
Fortunately, the girl escaped unscathed. However; their family and neighboring families lost everything in their condominiums, as everything they owned and the place they called home was engulfed by the flames. This fundraiser is for these families - to help them in any way possible to recover from this tragic event.

Since hearing the news of the fire from this aftenoon, just hours ago, I could not stop thinking about this girl, her family, and her neighbors that live in the complex. I knew there had to be some way to help. It is not until tragic events like this that make you realize to truly count your blessings. As the daughter of a police officer, I cannot help but be proud of Mahwah's fantastic police force and all the outstanding first responders - the Mahwah Fire Companies as well as the Mahwah Ambulance Companies, as well as this brave girl for leaping to safety. We truly have some of the greatest emergency personnel that work day in and day out to ensure we are all safe. I know that we are fortunate to live in such a wonderful town and I hope that we can come together to assist these families out in their time of need.
