Maggie and Binx Get Healthy!

Maggie was found outside in the Fargo/Moorhead area and brought to the Fargo pound. You will see in the pictures that Maggie is very stained from being outside so long. She is likely actually a pretty cream color. On October 4th, she had one baby who passed away shortly after birth. On the 5th she had five more babies and was placed into a foster home with me. Maggie was super dirty, covered in fleas and ticks and was very scared. She was not taking care of her babies, so I proceeded to assist her to feed her babies as well as supplement the babies in hopes that they would survive. Unfortunately, after a few days, all the babies had passed away.

Maggie was doing well, but we noticed that she just didn’t seem right and had lost a lot of weight. We took Maggie to Valley Veterinary Hospital for a check-up and found that Maggie had many internal types of parasites. Maggie was put on two medications and had bloodwork done. We also realized that this was probably why none of Maggie’s babies survived, as they likely had the parasites as well.

Binx was also found outside October 20th. He had a bare ring around his eyes which was checked out by a vet and determined that he has sarcoptic mange and a bacterial infection. Sarcoptic mange is very infectious and Binx needed to be placed in a home where he can be away from other animals. A bunny savvy friend of ours is fostering Binx until he is cured of his infection and mange.

The money raised will go towards Maggie’s treatment, which has already added up to $300, plus another recheck for her to ensure all her parasites are gone, as well as a recheck for Binx to make sure his mange and infection are gone and any additional care that is needed for him. If we raise more money than we need to care for these two, we will split the funds between Homeward Animal Shelter who graciously pulled these bunnies from the pound and got Binx his first treatment and 4 Luv of Dog who is assisting with our fundraising efforts.
