The Organizing Committee of Magal Julli Gueth Gui and Jalibatoul Marakhib September 21 2018 Las Vegas, Nevada, US would be honored to have you join the fourth edition of the celebration of the  anniversary of the 7-year long exile of Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba (1853-1927), a Senegalese Sufi, Saint, Scholar and Reformer, also widely acknowledged as the Muslim Leader of Peace and Non-violence.
On September 21st 1895  the French colonialists sent Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba on exile for seven years to central Africa (Gabon). Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba's exile lasted seven years – from 1895 to 1902 – at the end of which, as the First Major Advocate of Non-violence, he wrote: “I have forgiven all the enemies for the sake of God Who shielded me against any harm”. Despite all these ordeals, Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba lived a completely peaceful and non-violent life.

On September 21st 1895, on his way to exile and upon the refusal of the French colonialists to let him pray inside the boat, Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba had no other choice but to spread his prayer mat on the Atlantic ocean in order to fulfill his religious obligations. As a peaceful leader, he did not protest over this denial to perform a religious duty. On account of his great Faith in God and his total surrender to His Will, he miraculously and safely prayed on the water while the boat was running parallel to him. Hence the celebration of this prayer in Saint-Louis, Senegal on each 21st day of September.

Coincidentally, the United Nations has proclaimed September 21st the International Day of Peace by resolution 36/67  of its General Assembly which “has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples”. It is worth noting that September 21st 1895 set the stage for the annual celebration of the Magal - i.e celebration in Wolof language. The Magal is a way of giving thanks to Allah (a Thanksgiving Day) for the incommensurable Blessings and bounties He favored him with.
Please join us in this fundraising campaign for the commemoration of  September 21st  2018 event which will be attended by many people from different States in the U.S and by guests from Senegal. This commemoration will be an opportunity to pay tribute to a leader of Peace and Non-violence (Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba) who spent all his life working to make this world a more humane and better place to live in. Your donations in this celebration of peace is very much appreciated. Thank you!!!
