Maddie's ACL Surgery Fund

$2,505 of $4,400 goal

Our sweet girl went out to go potty on Christmas Eve and came back with a bad limp in her back leg. After a full day of bearing no weight on her back right leg, we took her to the Vet for x-rays. Luckily her hips are still working great! Unluckily, she completely tore her ACL muscle in her right hind leg. The knee works as a hinge joint (moving front and back) and without this muscle moves more like a ball joint (in any direction in wants) which can be extremely painful and actually cause worse stress and long term damage on her other legs in the process. They will perform a TPLO - a common surgery that actually changes the conformation of the knee. The tibia is cut, moved and reattached. If done without complication, this surgery may result in less arthritic changes, and is often recommended for larger dogs. She's only 8 years old and active, so a successful surgery would mean years more of playing, running, and exploring. Which is great!

Not so great? The COST. You don't need my list of reasons we're so broke (wedding, holidays, ect) but we are struggling to get Maddie taken care of right now, so we're officially swallowing our pride in hopes we might be able to offset some of her medical bills. I hate to ask - it's never fun and always a hit to my ego - but the pup comes first. If you've got anything you feel comfortable donating to help our girl, we would be so incredibely thankful. If not, thats okay too. You reading and sharing her story is really helpful to us, too! She's had a rough year and only just recently recovered fully from being attacked by a much larger dog earlier in the year. We're asking for any fund towards helping us cover her total projected surgery cost of $4,400. Her sugery date is scheduled for January 2nd but her recovery, including at home physical therapy with Mom and Dad, will keep her down through the month of February. Thanks so much for caring - she means the world to us!

Frustrated and bored, but healing beautifully! This girl goes back fro her next and final check-up at the vet on Feb 19th. After that she can start going for 5~ minute walks again to start strengthening her leg and rebuilt joint. Thank you for all of your support in helping us get her back to this point!

Our sweet girl is HOME from surgery and laying very, very low for now. She has to wear a cone for the next two weeks while her stitches heal, but we've upgraded her to a comfy cone so she's a bit more comfortable. We go in in a couple weeks for stitches removal and wound care, and then its 6 more weeks of zero activity until we can start with slow, 5-minute walks and some knee rehab. Thank you all for your generous donations, they were SO incredibly helpful in getting us to our goal. We owe far less than we would without you all. Thank you so, co much - from us and Maddie.
An attempt at play time
