Madalynn to Kenya

Hi there friends and family! I am so excited to be telling all of you that I have been given the opportunity to go to Kenya for two weeks this July! Kenneth and Sue Hood (and also their two sweet daughters) have decided to have me stay with them in their home at Rift Valley Academy. RVA is a Christian boarding school for families overseas doing mission work with children who range from elementary to high school age aiming to support those serving while providing a Christ centered education and investing in  and equipping the next generation of missionaries. While in Kenya I will get to see what life is like there on campus, be taking a look at local outreach missions and most importantly getting a glimpse into something I have dreamed about doing long term since I decided I wanted to pursue ministry.

I’ve never known growing up exactly what I wanted to do career wise until I was saved. And after that it was instant. There is nothing else i’d rather do with my life than spread the good news  and change hearts the way mine was. When I had Mr.Hood in high school he explained his mission to me it has tugged on my heart everyday since. I am currently enrolled Arizona State University online completing my bachelors degree and then moving on to seminary with hopes of becoming a Christian Counselor specializing in missionaries and their families on a campus just like Rift Valley Academy.

  Now global mission seemed frightening at first, I’d never even been out of the country! Until I was in church one Sunday morning and the sermon was over  going out and taking the word of God to the nations. I learned that there are over 600 people groups who have never heard the name of Jesus and my heart broke. I was sitting in that service and I knew there was no way I wasn’t going to devote my life to reaching as many hearts as I possibly could. Whether it means in my workplace, in my family, my city or across the globe.

I am so blessed to be able to receive this opportunity and I am thankful for the love and encouragement surrounding me. I am asking all of the people closest in my life for above everything prayers and support as I prepare for Kenya and this huge step in my life.
