Celebrate Mack Hightower's Legacy
As an adult, he was diagnosed with bipolar schizoaffective disorder. Though he fought to be in control of his mood, as intelligent and determined he was, he knew the progression of his disorder. Therapies and medications failed to give Mack the help he needed. Tired of not being able to control his emotions, on May 19th of 2016, Mack succumbed to his disorder when he found no hope in gaining his independence back. Strangled by his inability to control his life, he made the tragic decision to end it.
No amount of words are enough to describe Mack. He was larger than life itself. The world is definitely a little less bright today without him here. His spirit, so pure and golden, has transformed countless number of lives. His unforgettable charisma and charming personality cheered everyone up around him. Those who came in contact with him have been greatly impacted in a positive way. With a big heart, he shared his unconditional love with everyone. With his bear hugs, he shared warmth and comfort. His contagious smile has brought happiness to an innumerable amount of people.
Mack spent every day of his life trying to make other people's lives just a little bit better and now it's our turn to help the Hightower family give Mack a funeral that celebrates what he did for this world.
So this year, for what would have been Mack's 25th birthday, lets do something Mack would have done for any of us. Let’s give him a funeral fit for the kind and compassionate person he was.
I couldn't be more ecstatic about the difference we have already been able to make but with over two weeks until Mack's funeral there's a lot of time for us to do even more.
So here's the ask - keep sharing, keep giving, keep telling those who Mack didn't know what a wonderful human being he was.
He may be gone, but what we have done here is evidence he is not forgotten.
Thanks to everyone that has supported so far! We could not have gotten here without all of your hard work.
In the past 48 hours we have raised over 50% of our goal to help the Hightower Family and really gotten the word out about Mack's legacy.
48 Hours by the numbers:
- $7,892 raised
- 152 individual donors
- 675 Shares on Facebook
- 22.5% of those who share donate.
In short, every time you share you help us reach an exponential amount of people that knew Mack and 1/5 people who share, will donate something.
I'm truly impressed by the outpour of support for Mack and what we were able to accomplish in 48 hours... but we're not done yet. Please keep sharing and please keep donating! Lets make Mack even more proud than he already is watching us mobilize and making his family smile.
Great job everyone! I think we're off to a great start. Lets keep pushing to share this with everyone Mack knew and even people he didn't.
You guys are totally AWESOME!!!!! This situation is a very tough cookie to swallow. I've never lost any of my 1st cousin's before so this hurts. His dad is MY FAVORITE AND THE BEST UNCLE IN THE WORLD!!!!! He taught me to take my 1st steps as a child and he and my Aunt Sonya have been walking me through parenting. I always look to them for advice with raising my 2 kids because they did such a wonderful job with their 3. I'm proud to be a member of the Hightower Family. And I am even more elated to have had Mack Javon as my little Big Cousin. I remember when they would come to Detroit to stay with us when they were babies. He loved to eat and he loved his red hat and he hated to walk but he would slow poke his way to wherever we were going. My GOD.....MY GOD.....MY GOD this really hurts. I thank whomever created this page. Thanks for loving him as I know he loved all of you. Happy 25th Birthday Mack Javon. We love you from everlasting to everlasting.
