Mackenzie's WorldVets Trip
Donation protected
Hi everyone! My name is Mackenzie Holmes and I have just started my third year as an Animal Science major at the University of Florida. My degree is specialized in Animal Biology, which basically means that I am hoping to become a veterinarian one day.
My entire life has revolved around animals since I can remember, and I have been working towards this goal forever. As many people may (or may not) know, getting into veterinary school is a lot of hard work that involves attaining a lot of various and unique animal experiences under a veterinarian. The most important aspect of being on the pre-vet track, however, is to try to establish the real reason behind wanting to become a veterinarian. As the years have progressed, I have found that being a veterinarian is so much more than just being a doctor for animals, it is a title that helps promote animal welfare and educate the public in hopes of creating a better world that unifies animals and people. It is with this mindset that I found WorldVets, an international, volunteer-run, veterinary program that provides free animal aid to poverty-stricken areas that would not be able to afford it otherwise. This would be a once in a lifetime opportunity to be completely exposed to this side of veterinary medicine, and the hands-on experiences would be a valuable assest for my journey to vet school.
Considering this program is hosted for a week in Nicaragua, I have a set of expenses that I am to be responsible for. I am currently in college completely on scholarships, so money is tight on my end. Aside from the $1700 program fee, I have to pay for flights, vaccines and a bunch of other travel expenses. I am thinking my total trip will eventually end up being around $3000, and hoping that anyone that can help me with this amazing step towards vet school will.

Thank you all for making my dreams come true!
