Shadow's vet bills

On 15/05/19, Shadow went in for surgery at SASH Animal Hospital, to have a hydraulic urethral occluder placed, to assist with her ongoing urinary incontinence issue, which she has had since I rescued her and she was damaged during spaying in 2013. The surgery went well, and urinary incontinence was 90% better in the following weeks from surgery.

In an acute onset, on the 28/05/19, she became unable to urinate completely. She was rushed back to the vet in an emergency appointment, where she was admitted and diagnostics began. Ultrasounds, CT scans and Xrays were taken, only showing that her urethral clamp appeared normal and there is no reason for the obstruction of the urine, especially not 12 days after surgery and so acutely. It appears to be a muscle related issue. Over the past week, she has had several medications including antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxants and muscle contracting meds, none of which have made any difference. She has a team of 8 specialist surgeons, medicine specialists and external vets brainstorming a conclusion of what is wrong, with most ideas falling flat. Yesterday her bladder was not able to be fully released manually, so a catheter was placed. This brings a huge risk of infection with recent antibiotic use, but the risk of a ruptured bladder was too high.

In a few more days, a decision may need to be made to remove her hydraulic urethra, which, if it works to allow her bladder to work, means she will be incontinent forever.  It also holds the risk that it may not fix the problem. The vets at SASH have placed thousands of these devices, and have never had to remove one nor ever seen an issue like this.

The bill is over $3500 today (3/6/19), and if surgery is to go ahead, it will be several thousand on top. I am at loss of what to do, as the initial surgery cost $5000 and the emergency consult $500, which I am already paying back in a bank loan. Everyone who has ever met Shadow knows that she is my world, and I am hers. I will do anything to get her healthy no matter the cost, and any help on getting my girl home and healthy will be so very much appreciated. I normally would never ask for money like this, but am at loss of what to do.  I will keep you all updated on the process. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
