John Lee, also known as the nicest man in BMX, was recently injured in a  bicycle accident. Many of you know John as an East Coast Trail riding legend, and one of the key players at the small bicycle company- FBM.
John landed himself in the ER in Cleveland, and soon at a trauma unit for surgery in North Carolina.  He is currently with family, recovering from surgeries to repair his eye socket, nasal cavity, broken jaw, and has also knocked out several teeth.
Without medical insurance, the bills will obviously be substantial, however we are asking friends to help out with his travel cost, and expenses incurred while he is unable to work for the next couple of months...
Eating healthy and paying bills with out a job is no easy task, especially while in recovery.
At FBM  we will be working on a jam, and other fundraisers. Feel free to participate on any level....
Keep up with John Lee's smoothie recovery adventures here

One year ago today i had my accident. I celebrated today by riding with chris and kyle. Same two friends who were there in the ER with me holding my hands.

It has been a rough year for me and my friends. There has been a lot of loss and changes. From multiple surgeries, dental work, and a change in life style. Four of my friends lost a parent, and my last relationship/engagement ending. 2016 wasn't all stokage. i shedded a lot of tears this year. Tears of sadness, tears of joy, and sometime i found myself in tears for no reason at all. it is all part of the healing process. i was healing on a physical, mental and emotional levels

The year may of had a hard start, but the positives the year brought are incredible. I am very fortunate to have so many wonderful people in my life, my friends, my family, and my bmx community really came and supported me. I couldn't have done it with out all of you. I saw old friends reconnecting, and new friendships being made. A few of friends welcomed some new babies to there families, and couple more found love. Life is sharing moments good and bad with people, and having people to share with softens the blow when times get tough.

My smile isn't the same as it was, it feels and looks different from the nerve damage and missing teeth. Only thing that matters is I am still smiling

I really can't say thank you enough.

Hey everyone, today I am back in NC for a follow up visit with the surgeon. Everything healed really nice, stoked on that! I do have scar tissue and webbing on the inside of my left nostril causing a lot of restriction, it may correct itself but i have to wait till at least November, if not I will have to clear it up under the knife to clear it up after a year passes. They gave me some scar cream and massage instructions for the outter facial scar to help break it down and flatten it out.

Thanks again for all your support and going through this with me, you guys are the best
