Support A Forest Art Project
Donation protected
Hello! We are Lu Xu and Ethan Bryson . Lu is a sculptor and a performance artist and Ethan is the founder of Natural Urban Forests. This past June, with the support of an art fellowship through Franconia Sculpture Park , we made our living sculpture that incorporated a forest native to Minesota.
The native forest is the essential part of the sculpture, which adopts a revolutionary method, the Miyawiki Method: within 1,000 square feet, approximately 6 car parking spaces, it planted 300 native trees. This forest will grow 10 times faster and have 30 times the density, water retention, and bio-diversity compared to conventional reforestation methods.
The Fellowship awarded us $5000 to establish the first stage of our project: planting the 300 saplings, and building the metal structures. We still need another $4000 for the final stage of the project, to maintain the young forest for two years, after which it will no longer require assistance.
Your donation will allow Franconia Sculpture Park to water and maintain the young forest regularly for two years. We will have to reach the goal of $2000 by the end of 2016, and the other $2000 by the end of 2017.
The sculpture will constantly evolve as this native forest grows. Hundreds of people will witness this process, and it cannot happen without your support.
