We were inspired by Megan to start this non-profit organization (C3970676) after her tragic and sudden event that took place on November 5, 2016.   Our beautiful mother and wife, Megan Lum, had a suspected rare condition that caused a intracerebral hemorrhage of cerebellum. This rare condition is called Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM).

While attending her daughter's HS volleyball game at Foothill High School, Megan  felt a  headache and a sudden "pop" in her head while cheering for the team; this potentially was due to an AVM condition, or an "abnormal blood vessel." She was a healthy woman with no warning signs or symptoms.   After the suspected rupture, she began to feel flushed and tired.  I urgently drove her to the nearest Emergency Room where she became suddenly unconscious and fell into a subdural hemorrhage-coma.

The neurosurgeons ran additional CT Scans, but unfortunately realized that her condition worsened, and any surgical intervention would be futile.  The  potential  AVM led to an aneurysm which resulted with blood in the subdural space to both cerebellar hemisphere, causing upward herniation of the brain.

My wife (for 21 years) went into a coma and lost the ability to breathe on her own.  We were able to celebrate the twins's 16th birthday on the 7th as God provided our family precious time to enjoy that moment with her in the hospital.  She spent 8 final days in the ICU surrounded by her loving family.  Megan went to Heaven to serve the Lord on November 13, 2016 and we are comforted that she is watching over us now.

This non profit, charitable organization is to serve others in memory of Megan.  The funds will focus on 3 things:

To provide funds for research on early diagnosis and awareness of AVM
To provide local schools with academic and athletic scholarships
To give back to local churches/charities that directly affect lives

As a faithful Christian mother and a respiratory therapist serving patients for several years, Megan has always wanted to give back to society.  This newly formed  organization will make her very proud.  Any small contribution will help in this endeavor and we truly thank every one of you for the love and support.

About Megan... Megan can be described by four strong characteristics besides her beauty, love and kindness.  She represents high family values, is a devoted and loving wife, instilled principles of hard work and determination to her twins, and is greatly passionate about Christianity and faithful to God.
