Hello!
My name is Lauren Williams, but most know me as "Lulu", the girl who had her wig ripped off at school, causing her to shave her hair and claim victory over those who bullied her.
If you don’t know my story, I was talking with a friend in my school hallways when a boy decided to take a $5.00 bet and rip off my wig in front of the school while people laughed and video taped it.
I suffer from eczema and psoriasis, which causes extreme dryness and caused patches of my hair to fall out. This was a source of embarrassment that caused me to wear wigs to hide the bald patches.
When something like that happens to you, you really only have one of two choices; either bawl up in a corner cry, and blame the world, or you can stand up and fight for yourself...and I don’t mean fighting as in "throwing hands", but fight as in showing those people you will not allow them to make you feel any less than the strong person you are.
Thanks to my mom and my friends, I decided to stand up and fight for no only myself, but girls around the world who deal with things like bullying and insecurities everyday.
This year I will be competing in Miss Tennessee Teen USA for the chance to compete at Miss Teen USA.
I will be using this opportunity to advocate for my platform against bullying and will be talking about my hair journey, confidence journey, and bullying experience. I want to show girls around the world that being different is beautiful and that you don’t have to be society standard or “beautiful” to win or be in a pageant.
I would like to inspire those around me, and hopefully give other girls out there more confidence in themselves and thier ablity to pursue thier dreams.
I am asking $100 more or less from each sponsor.
If you decide to be a sponsor company, your name will be put in the pageant books for everyone to see, so your company could get some exposure!
The money will be going toward dresses, shoes, traveling, admission fee (which will be 1,000 itself) and other things I might need for the pagent!
Me and my mom cannot afford it all would really appreciate your support with donations to help me take this amazing journey.
